Duggan starts in first 5 chapters by over-doing the use of diaries, letters, etc., without giving readers adequate background to properly understand them. He wastes time by citing 3-5 of these to make the same point. However, in the final chapters the book is much more interesting and balanced, as he describes Mussolini
